As we continue to reflect on the stories of trailb As we continue to reflect on the stories of trailblazing women who have impacted the legal practice throughout history, we wanted to share the story of Charlotte E. Ray, who would go on to be the first African American woman to become an attorney in the United States.Ray began her career as a teacher at Howard University. While at the University, she graduated from its School of Law in 1872, becoming the first woman to do so. Ray was admitted to the District of Columbia’s Bar and began her independent practice. However, even though she was said to have been a skilled attorney, she could not maintain a steady client flow due to racial prejudice and was forced to return to teaching.#womenshistorymonth #womenshistory #womeninlaw

To celebrate Women's History Month, our firm wante To celebrate Women's History Month, our firm wanted to share the stories of some of the amazing trailblazing women who have made an impact on the legal practice throughout history. We are excited to start our series by sharing the story of Ada Kepley, the first woman in the U.S. to graduate from law school.Though Kepley graduated from Union College of Law (now known as Northwestern College of Law) in 1870, she could not practice because women were prohibited from joining the Illinois State Bar. Legislation was later passed in 1872, allowing women to become members, and Kepley eventually joined the Illinois State Bar in 1881. However, she did not practice and instead poured her efforts into the women’s suffrage and temperance movements.#womenshistorymonth #womenshistory #herstory
At FSU, the future is bright for the legal practic At FSU, the future is bright for the legal practice, and our firm is always thrilled to sponsor it where we can! What better way to do so than by spending a Friday morning supporting the FSU Law Community by enjoying a bit of friendly competition at the FSU College of Law Student Bar Association 7th Annual Golf Classic? We know that our Senior Partner, Dean LeBoeuf, had a great time playing and connecting with colleagues and law students alike.#golf #fsu #fsulaw #sponsor #law #lawfirm #tallahassee #florida
